Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do I need to be an experienced ceramic artist?

Oniro Ceramics Residency welcomes artists at different stages of their creative journey.

The The Art of Noticing is an artist residency, not a structured ceramics course. Artists are encouraged to explore their own ideas, experiment and develop their personal practice. Technical support is available for up to three hours daily, according to participants’ needs.

Renting a car is not mandatory, but it is recommended for greater flexibility. Oniro Estate is located in the countryside, near Larissa, Ampelonas, Tyrnavos and Falani. Having a car makes it easier to explore the surrounding region, including Mount Olympus and the Aegean coast.

Oniro offers two fully equipped pottery studios, each with its own unique atmosphere.

The Estate Studio is a traditional stone-built pottery workshop located within Oniro Estate, where participants will also be staying. Artists can enjoy 24/7 access to this creative space, surrounded by nature.

The Urban Studio is located in the heart of Larissa, offering a vibrant, city-based creative environment.

The two locations are connected through the local public transport network.

Artists have 24/7 access to the Estate Studio, subject to safety requirements. The Urban Studio is accessible during its regular opening hours.

If your application is accepted, a €500 deposit will be required to secure your place. Τhis amount is included in the total residency fee and is not an additional charge.

International participants can fly into Thessaloniki International Airport (SKG) or Athens International Airport (ATH).
