Oniro Ceramics at the Alive Mind Event at Café Lolita

The ceramics studio Oniro Ceramics – Maria Navakoudi, ceramic artist, took part in the Alive Mind event at Café Lolita, presenting two works that explore the relationship between humans and nature, material and symbolism, through different forms of ceramic expression.

The artworks presented

“Obvara” A ceramic vessel created using the alternative Obvara firing technique.
“The Guardian of the Vine” A female clay bust that gradually transforms into a body of nature. Her hair becomes branches, while a peacock — a guardian of life and fertility — watches over and protects her. The human merges with the animal, while the natural meets the primordial. The work speaks of coexistence and the protection of life, imagining a space where humanity and nature have not yet been separated.

The presence of the artworks at Café Lolita created a dialogue with the audience, inviting visitors to pause, discover the stories behind each piece, and connect the forms with their own interpretations and symbolism. Taking part in the Alive Mind event was a meaningful experience for us, reaffirming the role of ceramics not only as a functional object, but also as a medium for meaning, storytelling, and artistic expression. We would like to warmly thank Vangelis Mertzanidis for the invitation, as well as Café Lolita for providing such a welcoming space for this gathering of art and people.
