The Applied Arts Department of the Model Vocational High School of Katerini Visits Oniro Ceramics!

We were delighted to welcome students from the Applied Arts Department (Katerini Vocational High School) as part of an educational visit, with the goal of promoting experiential learning and connecting the educational process with the professional field of crafts and ceramics.

During the visit, the students learned about the stages involved in creating a ceramic piece: from selecting and preparing the clay, to shaping, firing in the kiln, and glazing. Special emphasis was placed on the basic techniques of ceramics as well as the use of the potter’s wheel.

Participants had the opportunity to actively engage in the creative process, putting into practice the knowledge they had acquired in their materials technology course. Through this hands-on experience, they gained direct exposure to clay, ceramic tools, and techniques, gaining a better understanding of the relationship between theory and practice. We would like to extend our warmest thanks to the school’s teacher, Mr. Dimitrios Korombilis, for his initiative and cooperation!
